Packaging and Shipping

I strive for sustainability by using boxes, bags, and tissue made from recycled paper, vintage ribbon (keep and reuse!), and compostable cellophane. My business cards are made from recycled cotton. Sometimes I use plastic zip bags, and I hope you will re-use them! Most orders will be packed in a small box which is then encased in a self-stick bubble-packing material which can be recycled. So far I have found this suits most orders and I am constantly hoarding boxes and packing materials to re-use when I can.

I ship using the United State Postal Service; you can choose Priority Mail Flat Rate at $7.50 or First Class Package service, which is wonderfully economical at just $3.00 and just covers most orders. Sometimes I take a loss of a dollar or two. If your order ships for more than one dollar less than the shipping charge, be assured that I will refund the overage. Orders will be dispatched within 2 business days. Sculptures ship in a Priority Mail box for $15.00.

International orders are very welcome; the USPS offers what seem to me very reasonable rates to most destinations. $15.00 covers most jewelry or small supplies orders, and usually takes about two weeks. Larger items ship for $24.00.

VAT is confusing and inconsistent in my experience. I do my best to minimize it. If you have a suggestion please include it in the note section when you place your order.

Troubleshooting

If you have any questions, issues, or need a different way to check out on the website, please reach out! I check my email all the time and want to help you have a good experience here. I know that some people prefer Paypal, and I can easily send you an invoice for that. Only shop with checks? That’s no problem either. I’ll hold your items while you send payment.

Email Newsletter

I am grateful to everyone who subscribes to my email list. I’m striving to learn who is interested in what, whether finished art and jewelry or art supplies, and have added a button to the signup list so you can choose. I make it a point to keep my communications infrequent, pretty, and informative.

Shrinkets, what the heck?

If you have a question or a problem, or you just wish something was a little different, please let me know! I accept returns up to 30 days after delivery. Send the item to the address on the packing list and I will refund the purchase cost as soon as I receive it.

I’m willing to listen. I want to know if you’re happy and if you’re not. Comments and reviews are very welcome! I’d love to collect enough to give them their own page. Emails to kim@kimvanantwerp.com will always be answered promptly.

Are you inspired by what you see but not quite sure how to put it together? Do you wish I had something in a different size or color? I would LOVE to hear from you. It’s really hard to try and guess what people like, so I ask around online for suggestions. But to hear from YOU, who are already here and interested, would be very valuable to me. There are many possibilities for special orders. Why not commission a special kit pack for a crafting event with your family? Or if you want to make multiples of something for gifts, all with a particular color or monogram design, I can help! Send me an email kim@kimvanantwerp.com and let’s design something together.

Good bead caps are kind of the Holy Grail for most of us who work with beads, especially when using mixed materials like textiles and felt. Creating a transition that is graceful, containing something like a tassel or the top of a piece of fabric, is so important. And for some reason they are hard to find. Typically they will be the wrong color, the wrong shape or size, or just ugly. Frustrating!

I met Julie Haymaker a few years ago at the Bead&Button show and was just blown away with her personal style and the invention she was selling, molds for shrink plastic, WOW! I flipped and bought the whole shebang, including a pack of colored pencils so I could go back to my hotel room and play.

Now I can make bead caps of many shapes and sizes, any color or design I want, and they are light as a feather to boot. Julie is a delight to work with and has expanded her business and upgraded the molds. She has video tutorials and more on her website, www.juliehaymaker.com. The Facebook group, Shrinkets: shrink plastic beads and art, is active and friendly. Now and then Julie, Gail, and I will host a flash sale on the Facebook Shrinkets Saturday Trunk Show. Come join us!
